01 Feb 2017

Jupiter recently delivered a story of the world’s first solar-powered supercomputer for Hewlett Packard Enterprise. This customer testimonial video details a unique collaboration that delivers the most efficient and “green” supercomputer yet. Named Hikari, the HPE Apollo 8000 system is powered by a solar farm installed in the building’s parking lot at the Texas Advanced Computing Center (TACC) at the University of Texas at Austin.

The video features interviews with the Executive Director of TACC and the HPE Chief Technologist for High Performance Computing. Interviews are intercut with footage of the system that provides an inside look at the innovative design and other “green” features of this High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) datacenter.

The reaction to the testimonial has been tremendous and it positions HPE as an industry leader in sustainable supercomputing solutions.
